Welcome to EuCAP 2022
|
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Conference Organizing Committee, it is my pleasure to invite you to EuCAP 2022, Europe’s flagship conference on antennas and propagation, which will take place in Madrid from March 27th to April 1st.
After two virtual edition events (2020 and 2021) for EuCAP, we are ready come back to a physical on-site EuCAP event. Everything is in place in Madrid, at the “IFEMA Palacio Municipal de Congresos” Convention Centre for hosting you at the 16th edition of the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation. Please, check the travel restrictions due to COVID before arranging your trip. The information can be found at:
https://www.sanidad.gob.es/en/profesionales/saludPublica/ccayes/alertasActual/nCov/spth.htm
Once you are in Madrid, the only restriction is the use of face mask in indoor areas.
As I announced some weeks ago, we are in the process of setting up a “virtual attendance capability” for some elements of the conference; this is due to the fact that some authors or delegates are unable to physically attend the event due to travel restrictions or health issues.
1. The streaming sessions will be available through https://virtualeucap2022.com and will be available for three months. These sessions are the ones in Auditorium (Monday), Madrid room (Tuesday to Friday) and Rome room (every day) will be live. The login and password will be sent to all the delegates via e-mail.
2. All the other rooms will have a zoom connection to allow the authors to present their papers remotely. The chairs and volunteers will help the authors in the process. These sessions will only be visible in the meeting room. The authors and session chairs should have received an e-mail with the link to the platform. If you did not receive it, please contact, info@eucap2022.org. If the presenter is not in the conference centre, he will be able to present via zoom. As backup, the chair will show the video uploaded in EDAS. Session chairs, please make sure you can connect your EDAS account (with your login and password).
3. Information and posters available in EDAS: the papers, videos and/or posters will be available on-line to all the registered delegates after the session where they are presented, through https://edas.info/web/eucap2022/program.html Since EDAS e-mail and EuCAP2022 registration e-mail could be different, we have prepared some instructions to use the EDAS platform, available in the web page.
However, we would like to stress that the “virtual format” will not be a substitute for attending the live physical event in Madrid the capital and most populated city of Spain, with more than 3 million people, with hotel facilities among the best in Europe. Madrid hosts more than fifteen universities and it is a hub of entrepreneurial innovation and technology, with subsidiaries of some of the most important companies in the areas of aerospace and communications. Airbus Defence & Space, Thales Alenia Space, INDRA, SENER among others are located in the Madrid metropolitan area, where over one hundred antenna engineers are employed in each of these companies. Therefore, EuCAP 2022 will be a unique place to strengthen the link between the scientific antennas and propagation communities in areas related to 5G, space applications, or future communication systems.
Madrid is accessible from Europe, America, and Africa with excellent connections by air with the main cities of the world. The cultural links with Latin America will increase the long-term relations between EuCAP and Latin America researchers in the antenna and propagation field.
There is always an incredible buzz when attending the EuCAP conference and a chance for all delegates to actively network amongst other delegates and exhibitors wanting to demonstrate the latest advances in technology relating to RF and Antenna engineering. The social events are also a fantastic way to wind down in the evening over a glass of Spanish wine.
“IFEMA Palacio Municipal de Congresos” Convention Centre will host EuCAP 2022. It has a total of 10,373 square meters of exhibition areas, distributed along the various floors of the building. There are also two auditoriums, an all-purpose hall with an area of 2,200 m2, and thirty rooms and halls with different capacities. Also, it is very well connected by metro to downtown Madrid and airport (only 10 minutes by metro).
I invite all of you to come to Madrid, to attend the technical activities of EuCAP 2022, but also to spend some days to enjoy Madrid’s culture, with some of the most important galleries in the world, as the Museums of Prado, “Reina Sofia” or Thyssen-Bornemisza, and, of course, Madrid’s day and night life.
I very much look forward to welcoming you in the amazing city of Madrid for EuCAP 2022.
Sincerely,
Manuel Sierra Castañer, Conference Chair
